There and Back Again

okay,now it starts….people are starting to leave back to their homes.you can also see it because new studets to winter school have started to arrive here.me and joonas are going to be almost the last from our regular group.one realy nice german guy left first.he left thursday. and every time some one is leving there is a somekind small farewell party.

this weeks friday we had an our own farewell trip wiht the regular group.we rented a minbak outside souel and spend a great evening there by cooking korean meat and just spending quality time together.thanks to every one or that night.we call it regular group cause we usualy hang out and do stuff together. so there is some people that have became better friends to us than the others.one of my best friends here is leaving at sathurday morning back to germany.i feel littlebit wistful cause of that.she was and is realy dear friend to me, and to joonas too ofcourse. we had realy good time togerther here in korea. we were in busan that was just awesome, we also did the hiking in sorak san wich was realy good and the landscape were beautiful. i think she was the one i spend then most time in here.i was planning to escort her to the airport bus tomorrow.

today we are going to party one las time in our usual placea  in hungdae , ff club. ill hope the live music and the cheap beer there will make our separation little easier.after all who will teach me to pronounce difficult words correct any more.

and like i told, trip to back home comes closer all the time.tomorrow we can say that day after tomorrow we are back home.im already kind a waiting to get back home.i miss my family and my friends and generally the whole oulu :D.we see at tuesday.until then…ff

this week was the hardest for us by the school.we had lots of work to do because of the final examns.we did our last works for the school this week.next week is the last examns of semester.we will pass them.

and now when the leaving back to home comes near, everybody here feels littlebit down.i understand that.so do we. these three months here have given us lots of new friends.but these last weeks were going to have lots of fun

6.12.1917 happened something worth party for.and so we did.its our independence day!and we are proud of it!morning started with couple of classes.anfter that we started to watch talvisota. of course this old tradition includes drinking, a lot of that…after that was time to watch tali-ihantala 44. nad more drinks.we also had some company of dutch “embassador” . we had a great day, what that i remember of it :D.joke joke.and of course there is one movie that belongs to independence day, tuntematon sotilas. so we watched it too.

okay tournatment is over.fuck! even that we fought hard we couldnt win gold.but silver is not a shame.we had four games on tournament.

first day of tournamet was ours ! we had two games and we won both.first was just practice , 9-1.second was humiliating for opponent, 18-5. and those five goals was all my fault,i was the goal keeper.

second day was then litlle harder or us.first game we won but only 8-2. and the final game for gold was bad bad bad.we lost the game 6-4.and i wasnt even a goalie. bu i think referees were playin for their own.at the end we were the only foreign team in tournament and every tournament before were won by foreign team. but we dont complain.

still its good merit to have silver medal in some country championship

Whoa!las two weeks went realy fast,too fast for me.and i dont even know what happened :).and we dont want time to go by so fast. i think its going to be hard time when all we leave here, because we have became realy good friend with some of other students. especially certain dutc and german friends.but luckily we have allready planned some trips that we are going to do together next summer :).mayby we have just been studying too hard …NOT.no but realy there have not been anything realy special in the past weeks. Joonas had an birthday and small thing like that.and the guy didnt even mentioned about that to  ANYBODY :D.perhaps last weeks bigges thing was my exploding hard disk from my laptop. and that is one reason why we havent uodated this blog or wiki. thank god i didnt lost everyhting in that hdd.only the usual, photos music all data and stuff like that.fuck.luckily my preasentation about finland is SAFE.ihad it on my memorystick with our e-tickets back to suomi:).  oh jeah and last week we also found a finnish restaurant here in soul, or atleast the keeper of the restaurant in finnish.

But this week will be full of acton.me and joonas we are going to have our korean championship tournament on floorball this weekend at sathurday and sunday.weeeeee. our team is finnish swedish dream team.in our dreams.oh yeah and the small news about north korea shootin south with cannons also happened yesterday.no big deal.no seriously there was 3 dead soldiers and two civilians on south side.and 18 wounded.some of the news say that the conflict is more serious now than ever,after 1953 of course.because the war didn end in 1953 because no peace agreement was written, (only threaty) this country is technically still at war. but here in soul everyday life didnt shake at all because of the conflict.we realy hope that they can settle their problems peacefully.and im not going to talk more about this situation.because opinions are like assholes,everybody got one.

and i still need to see DMZ (demilitarised zone) .ihope they dont close that because of the current situation :D. or i mean open it…but we will let you know how our tournamet go.but not before sunday….or monday.because if we succee in tournament,we may have some small party coming up.peace out!

wuhuu.im sorry we havent updated our blog for couple of weeks.but it has just been so busy and especially week before this update was just so booring that there is nothing to tell about.midterm examns mayby had something to do with that. but luckily we propably passed all our examns. just hoping to get those back. oh and we already got our korean language tests back. Joonas had better lottery luck with his examn than i…. 20/30 is some kind of sorcery. im more mortal human being with my score, 12/30.better luck next time. no but seriously i realy need to study more that decodet little thing they call language.

28.10 - 30.10 we had couple of halloween parties. first one was at s-cafe inside our campus.there is served ass a bartender. its nice contexst when nun is serving alcohol drinks to drunken people.my costume was catholic nun as i allready gave a hint and joonas dressed up like bruce willis in die hard 2. biggest halloween party we had was at saathurday the 30th. it was organized by students from another university that is close to ours. 10 000(less than 7 e)won and you get all you can drink beer. it realy is like the boss answered my prays.next next week went like with wings. and i think the time is running littlebit faster here than in finland.

next weekend on 1.11 - 3.11 we went to Sorok san mountains in east coast of korean peninsula.there is an national park. we took a buss to get there and we arrived there at friday evening.we allready booked our minbak on advance. it is an big room where everybody sleeps at the floor on a mattress. it is quite a cheap accomodation. about 8 000 won/person.then on sathurday we went to that national park for a hiking.park was just amazing.it is realy har to discrive it. but luckily we took some phots there.and we alsoclimbet to some cave in a mountain.it was a buddhist small temple inside a mountain.i think we had too big group for hiking and it was little bit difficult to keep the group together all the time because everybody had a littlebit diffeent speed.

night between sathurday and sunday we spend on a chimchil ba.it is little bit like bath house where you can also spend a night.there is different rooms that are like sauna,but without kiuas.rooms are differetn temperature and the humidity levele is lover than in sauna.pussyyy.oh and it was realy nice cause there were also an ice room :D. it is also realy cheap compared to hotel or motel.its 10 000w /24 hours.

sunday we went back to park and did some more hiking.this time we hiked for allmost 7 hours. i think we walked like 10 km total.it was quite hard terrain because it was all rocky all the time.we saw two different wate falls and lots of beatiful views.the landscape was just magnifficent.and luckily this time we had smaller group so it was easie to hike.we allmost had some casualties duing our way back.appearently one mexican guy thought he was a panther and could climb up to water fall but after all he was only a man.so one twisted knee. but we realy had fun on climbing all the rocks on the river stream.unfortunately we had a time limit so we had to head back to busterminal to get back to soul at 7 clock.

buss ride back was realy quiet.everybody were exhausted because of hiking. here is some pics about our trip.

oaky there has been two weeks time that we havent write here.long story short.we are going to cancel this exchange now.we just cant take all there new experiences.its over now.just kidding.there just havent been anything so special during the last two weeks.mostly just nor,al studying and hanging around.

oh last sunday, (9th october) we went to some park thats name is allmost impossible to pronounce. but the park was realy beatifull and the weather was great.i think it might be the last warm day here.there we found benji jump place. or mayby we just went there beacause of benji :D. 45 meter just waited us to jump. there was seven of us students and only one has jumped it before.me.i was the one who was the most nervous.Ruth needed to calm me down all the time.i just squeezed her hand and shaked all the time. but luckily i encouraged myself to jump.

i survived! ater jumps we found an exellent place for sunday evening.korean brbq buffee. o my god, we spend there 2,5 hour.eated attleast two cow five horses ten chicken and couple of cats.atleast.

next week there was nothing special until sathurday.we are going to check out Itaewon.its a place where is lots of clubs pubs and bars. :D.and there is also lots of foregin people.i will let you know how that went

Hellou !

Last week we took our little heads back to school after this korean thanksgiving vacation. But monday was easy for us because korean language class was cancelled so we had only 3 hours of school and on tuesdays we dont have school either On thursday we had a quiz on building systems and i think we got atleast 40 points out of 50. We rock !

On thurday i (Joonas) went to taekwon-do club to see what it is like. First we did some warmup and after that we did some kicking. We also put on these chest armours that we could kick each other. My partner was a girl who was a lot smaller than me and i had to kick her im not really into kicking girls but it was fun. I am going to go there again when i have some time.

Suddenly it was friday afternoon and we went to Ruths and Sebastians apartment to start our weekend. We played some nintendo wii and drank some beer. We left that apartment to hit the town because one of the exchange students had her birthday and we got there to celebrate it. The day after was also kinda similiar but this time korean girl had a birthday, but because we were celebrating that also on friday, I (Joonas) didnt go out on saturday. Jani went with others and i heard that they stayed in that same apartment the whole night. Sunday was for relaxing and we went bowling with some friends.

Busan is the second biggest city in South-Korea. it has lots of great beaches to chill out and swim in the ocean and its famous of partying.thats why its sounded a perfect place to go on Chuseok(korean thanksgiving day).

We had nine exchange students from our university.Daniel, Ruth(+her lovely boyfriend), Bess ,Caroline, Cathy, Joonas, Jani, Santos, Havier.Plus that there was suppose to be 4 other spanish guys(friends of santos ) with us in our hotel.Ruth and her boyfriend didnt spent first two nights with us because the had booked a motel already before the trip.in our accommodation there was two big bedrooms with shower and toilet.accommodation costed 480 000 wons from friday to saturday.so it was cheap.

Our Busan trip started pretty well.most of us were in a same buss expect Daniel and Bess.we others arrived to busan central buss station about half an hour later than Daniel and Bess.At the bus station we also founded those other spanish guys.

At first evening on our hotel we had some difficulties with spanish mentalitet and way of solving problems ,but we managed to overcome those.conclusion:spanish guys left expect santos and havier.At first night we only did some scouting at the beach near by and got some latenight dinner.

First day at busan started really great.weather was nice so we headed to beach.Songjeong beach was really close to our hotel so we went there.for us it was really akward situation cause its not normal in Finland to hang out in the beach in late september.others went swimming exept me(jani).because of my injury  from two days before in my foot.it was REALLY FUN to watch other swimming and having fun in the sea.really i just loved it.i didnt even want to swim.at the night we just chilled on the beach and had a really good time.We spent the next day also at Songjeong beach because it was so much fun.Ruth and her boyfriend also joined us today.at the night we even bought some fireworks so we could celebrate Chuseok. after lots of fireworks we realised that Chuseok hadnt even started yet.it was sunday and holidays start at tuesday.maybe we were littlebit early but so what(Alcohol had nothing to do  with this).we had fun.After the fireworks we found great surf bar right next to beach.next two days and nights we spent in Haeundae beach what is Busans most famous beach.but i still i think that the beach near our hotel was better cause it was more private.both nights we started in a bar called rock n roll house.despite the tittle of bar, it really didnt have anything to do with rock music.not before we got there.by the mercy of lord, dj was kind enough to play songs we asked him to play.suddenly the place started to resemble a rock bar.we met lots of other foreigners in the bar.and the funniest thing was that at one moment there was over 10 finnish people in there.after tranformation of the former lady gaga fan club we headed to some night clubs.strange things happen when you party hard.or naked.Last day o our journey was unfortunately rainy so we couldnt go to beach any more.but of course its possible to drink beer in the hotel.so we had a drinking game with the group and just had a good time.at the morning when we left the hotel and set our course back to soul only 3 out of 9 got the buss ticket back to Soul.despite the incredible resistance we were able to require tickets to rest of our group.or the next 8 hours i dont have much memories.i slept almost the whole bussride.

Hello again its been a while when we last time updated this blog. It is just that we have started our “normal” life in here School is running sweetly on the side while we try to have some fun. About the school we have had some quizes that we passed quite easily and about our courses we have this building systems and last lesson was about wooden structures and we noticed that we in Finland are a lot ahead in that subject, but we hope that when it comes to concrete it will be more interesting because they kinda build everything here from concrete.

Last thurday we went to seoul stadion to watch some football, South Korea vs. Iran. There were a lot of people and great athmosphere eventhought me and Jani didnt get this one thing, that why koreans always buued when the irans touched the ball… Sportmanship wherewhat ? The Score was 0 - 1 for Iran.

On the weekend we just relaxed and spend some time with other students and we also found this orange pub which is a really nice place to sit down with your friends, have a drink or two and play some pool. Unfortunately Jani got flu and fever on friday night because it has been raining for several days and we have been wondering the streets of Seoul with our clothes wet, but it’s a good thing that he is a tough guy and it doesnt slow him down

Next week we are going to have our first holiday! Chusak(something like that), it is Korean thanksgiving day and we have one week vacation from school and we have already made some plans and bought some tickets, but we will tell more on next week or maybe after that because we may not be able to use computer. SEE YOU ALL !

rest of the week went with getting to know with our new professors and having orientations about the courses.all of the courses seemed to be interesting for our taste.only course that is close to our own major in finland is building systems.it is littlebit similar to some of our courses back home but still little different.there we studey construction management from a architectures view.in korean language course we are going to have a lot of work to pass the course.only the alphabets are lot of work to learn.me and joonas we have all the same courses except one,joonas has korean globalisation on friday and i have an intership on Seoul Metropolitan Goverment.my work there is to proofreand and translate finnish webpages and collect info about finnish education system.im going to work there 8 hours a week for 13 weeks.i also get paid from there.whole 20,000 won per week.(16€).

friday we had this icebreaking trip Gaangchon.its a holiday resort own by UOS.there we had this get together party with all the other exchange students and their buddies.that was lot of fun there! then on sathurday we headed up to this Nami island nearby the resort. me(jani) , Joonas, Ki-Won (one of the buddies) and Ruth(german student.) tried this flying banana thing(just see the video :D).if was so scared but luckily Ruth was there calming me down.(video on facebook : http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=151891691502106&ref=mf

Jihui Lee (one of the buddies again) had his birthday on sathurday so we went to Hongik-de.that is a part of the city where young people get together on weekends and there is lot of bars and clubs.there we rented a karaoke room for an hour and i think only word for that place is hilarious.we had so much fun that we get back to campus at 7 o clock at sunday morning.so sunday wasnt that full of action.Joonas slept hole day but we went to cinema with ten other guys to see Inception.perfect way to end a week.
